SENIOR SCHOOL • BEYOND THE CLASSROOM • THE CREATIVE ARTS
Art is an integral part of our curriculum and life at Brighton College (Singapore). Learning through and about the arts enriches the learning experience of our pupils. Art-related subjects foster creativity, self-expression and build confidence in our pupils. It helps pupils to interpret the world around us.
The Art Department at Brighton College (Singapore) is committed to developing pupils’ skills and interests through a structured program that balances technique with confidence, individuality, and creativity. It provides a lively space where pupils can explore various media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, and critical writing, while nurturing both practical and creative growth.
Contemporary art practices and theories are emphasised alongside technical skills, helping pupils engage with their artistic work. The department offers an enriching environment through regular artist visits, specialist workshops, and gallery trips, creating opportunities for pupils to broaden their perspectives and enhance their creative abilities.
At the core of Design and Technology is creativity and imagination. Pupils learn to design, research and make products that solve genuine everyday problems within different contexts. It is a blend of creativity, aesthetics, engineering and craftsmanship, making it a subject that appeals to a wide range of pupils. As a result, pupils gain technical and design awareness, while developing skills such as initiative, resourcefulness, enquiry and ingenuity.
The best way to experience what life is like at Brighton College is to join us at an Open House, where you will have the chance to talk to pupils and teachers about what makes our school such a special place, and to answer any questions you have about life here.
