Welcome to Brighton College (Singapore)’s EAL program! I’m Ian Smith, Head of EAL, and I’m excited to share our approach to supporting English learners.

Our EAL program is more than just language instruction – it’s a journey of growth and discovery. We create a warm, inclusive environment where every child, regardless of their English level, can thrive and find their voice.

Our dedicated team tailors support to each student’s needs, whether through our intensive Preparatory Course for Primary or integrated classroom assistance. We focus on building both language skills and confidence, helping your child succeed academically and socially.

Equipping pupils with English Language proficiency and unlock their future

At Brighton College (Singapore), we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student thrives, regardless of their English proficiency. Our English as an Additional Language (EAL) program is central to this mission, offering tailored assistance that empowers pupils to excel academically and socially.

Our dedicated EAL team guides students on their English language journey, building both skills and confidence. Recognizing each child’s unique path, we customize our approach to individual needs. Through our innovative Preparatory Course for Primary (PCP), we provide intensive, nurturing support for rapid language development.

We believe a strong foundation in English enhances overall learning and opens doors to global opportunities. Our focus extends beyond language acquisition to cultural integration, helping pupils feel connected within our vibrant community. Our two-tiered support system, determined through a comprehensive assessment during admission, ensures each student receives appropriate assistance. Whether in the immersive PCP program or receiving intermediate support in mainstream classes, our goal is to equip your child with the language skills necessary to thrive.

Our Approach

Fully Individualised Approach

Pupils learn at different speeds, and have different needs – a fully customised approach enables pupils to obtain support and instruction in areas that are most beneficial to them.

Dedicated EAL Specialist

Pupils gain push-in, or pull-out support, depending on the context of learning for the day. This means that pupils get the most out of their learning, that can be immediately applied to the classroom context.

An Immersive Environment

A supportive homeroom environment, with opportunities to practice, learn, and interact with peers – it is the most ideal environment for a budding language learner to build confidence and improve proficiency in the language.

Preparatory Course for Primary (Beginner)

The Preparatory Course for Primary School (PCP) Year 1 to Year 6 introduces beginner EAL pupils to Brighton College’s pupil life and curriculum.
